Bulog ramps up daily rice distribution to keep prices steady

Bulog will deliver 4,000 tonnes of rice each day, aiming to secure market supply and hold prices at the government-set caps.

At the Cipinang Central Rice Market in East Jakarta, Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani revealed that the state grain board will distribute 4,000 tonnes of rice each day to stabilise market supplies and keep prices within the limits set by the National Food Agency. He emphasized that both government and private-sector actors are working to meet consumer needs as efficiently as possible. In addition to the bulk rice, Bulog is providing about 507 tonnes of premium rice daily, which represents roughly one-tenth of the country's premium rice consumption, with private firms covering the remaining nine-tenths.

One outlet maximum retail prices are Rp 12,500 per kilogram for medium rice and Rp 14,900 for premium rice. To accelerate the flow of rice to consumers, the agency plans to broaden its distribution network by adding more sales points through Red and White Village Cooperatives, targeting villages and small retailers.
