Butcher accused of slashing woman's throat, dismembering her and dumping parts in Vijayawada canal

Authorities linked the dismembered remains found in Ibrahimpatnam to Kalyani after her family spotted a distinctive hand tattoo. Police traced the case to Shafi, a butcher who runs a small mutton shop in Bhavanipuram, and learned that he and Kalyani had a close association and recent financial disagreements, including a prior issue involving her son. On September 17, Shafi is said to have brought Kalyani to his house, where a dispute escalated into a knife assault that severed her throat.

He allegedly enlisted Guruvulu, an employee at his shop, to help cut the corpse into nine sections and transport them to the Cooling Canal in the Gollapudi area. Both suspects are now in custody while investigators examine motives and the exact logistics of the disposal.
