BYU dominates Utah Tech 63-7 as fans energize season opener

BYU opened the 2026 football season with a 63-7 victory over Utah Tech, praising the enthusiastic crowd at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

In the season-opening matchup, BYU routed FCS opponent Utah Tech by 63-7 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo. Head coach Kalani Sitake thanked the fans for their nonstop energy, noting it set a high bar for transfer players. The game featured appearances by alumni Jake Retzlaff and Jamaal Williams, with Retzlaff cheering on the sidelines. Freshman Devaughn Eka scored a fourth-quarter touchdown and received a high-five from Retzlaff. Later, a fan’s high-five with Cannon DeVries preceded DeVries’ 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
