Cable theft disrupts Putrajaya MRT line, prompting shuttle buses and altered train schedules

A stolen cable caused a service interruption on the Putrajaya MRT line, leading Rapid KL to adjust train frequencies and provide free shuttle buses.

Rapid KL reported that a cable theft was identified early this morning, halting a train at Taman Equine station. The incident is expected to increase platform waiting times, especially at UPM, 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral. Repair teams have been dispatched to restore electricity and resume normal service.

In the meantime, trains from Kwasa Damansara will turn back at UPM every ten minutes, and similar turn-back patterns apply at 16 Sierra and between 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral. Free shuttle buses are operating every 15-20 minutes between Serdang Jaya, UPM, Taman Equine, Putra Permai, 16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara, Cyberjaya City Centre and Putrajaya Sentral. Passengers traveling onward to Sepang via the ERL are advised to allow extra time or use alternative routes through KL Sentral or Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Why it matters
