Caitlin Clark draws record Prime Video audience for WNBA, matching NBA average
A game featuring Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings on Amazon Prime Video attracted 1.07 million viewers, the highest ever for a WNBA broadcast on the platform and equal to the NBA’s season-average on Prime.
Amazon Prime Video reported that the Indiana Fever’s game against the Dallas Wings drew an average of 1.07 million viewers, the most-watched WNBA broadcast ever measured on the service. This eclipses the earlier Prime record of 948,000 set by a Las Vegas Aces-Fever contest and aligns with the NBA’s season-average viewership on Prime Video. The milestone comes as the league’s games are being Nielsen-rated for the first time, providing more reliable data.
Caitlin Clark’s involvement has also produced record audiences on one outlet, Peacock, several outlets, Ion, USA Network and other outlets, with several games exceeding two million viewers. Although the league’s overall Prime average will likely remain below the NBA’s, Clark’s draw is reshaping viewership expectations for women’s basketball.
Why it matters
Clark’s popularity is boosting WNBA visibility, bringing women's basketball viewership to levels comparable with the NBA.
