Cal State professor publicly names ICE officer and urges crowd to target him

In December, off-duty ICE officer Brian Palacios engaged a shooter at an apartment complex in Northridge, killing Keith Porter Jr. and prompting an LAPD investigation and a later restraining-order filing by Omar Escorcia, the ex-husband of Palacios’s girlfriend, who argued Palacios was too dangerous for child custody. At the La Defensa del Pueblo summit, Cal State University professor Melina Abdullah publicly named Palacios, suggested he might be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on Solar Drive, and repeatedly told the crowd to “fuck him up.”

Abdullah, founder of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, also urged participants to read the militant text “Blood in My Eye,” which outlines urban guerrilla tactics. She later tried to qualify her language, saying the phrase could mean exposing the agent or making him uncomfortable, but the specific name and address remained. The episode has raised questions about whether her statements cross a legal line, given the direct targeting of a federal officer. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between law-enforcement officials and activist groups in Los Angeles.
