Caleb Williams dazzles with 19-yard scramble against the Vikings
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams broke free for a 19-yard run on third-and-12 early in the game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Early in the matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams faced third-and-12 from the opponent's 38-yard line. After the pocket collapsed, he slipped left, was blocked, then turned back right and sprinted 19 yards behind the line of scrimmage, high-stepping as Dallas Turner dove to trip him. Near the right sideline, Levi Drake Rodriguez attempted a tackle, but Williams managed a six-yard gain before being pushed out of bounds.
The advance set up Cairo Santos' 50-yard field goal that leveled the score. The run reminded fans of his spectacular scramble against the Rams at Soldier Field last season.
Why it matters
The play highlights Williams' athleticism and could influence the Bears' offensive strategy.
