California couple extradited from Mexico to face homicide charges in 2025 killing
Antonio Garcia and Misty Gomez were captured in Mexico, returned to California and are now awaiting homicide charges for the death of Geoffrey Bernardi.
The Clovis Police Department announced that Antonio Garcia, 40, of Tulare, and Misty Gomez, 32, of Dinuba, were arrested in Mexico and extradited to California for homicide charges. The duo is accused of beating 37-year-old Geoffrey Bernardi of Clovis to death on Dec. 18, 2025, near a canal at Barstow and Peach, after which he succumbed to his injuries two days later. Investigators say the suspects communicated about the crime and then escaped across the border, remaining hidden for several months.
Both are now in custody at a Fresno County jail awaiting trial. Gomez, who was reportedly Bernardi's girlfriend and is married to Garcia, allegedly left Mexico with two young children from earlier relationships; those children have been missing from Dinuba since April and are being reunited with family.
