California teen rescued in Mexico after father’s incest arrest and newborn’s death

A 14-year-old girl was rescued in Mexico and her father, Sergio Galvez Perez, was arrested after authorities linked them to the death of the infant she gave birth to on a Monterey County roadside.

Monterey County officials confirmed that a 14-year-old girl, identified as the victim of incest, was rescued in Mexico after an Amber Alert was issued last month. Her father, 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez, a Mixtec musician known online as El Aguila Real y su Ritmo Sabroso, was arrested during a coordinated FBI and Mexican-authority operation and was found in possession of narcotics. The infant she bore, labeled “Baby Angelita” by investigators, was discovered dead on Struve Road in north Monterey County on Aug. 1.

Earlier, Perez’s getaway vehicle was recovered in the county. The district attorney’s office emphasized the priority of protecting the girl and providing services, after public criticism of earlier statements. Perez faces multiple felony charges, including incest and child endangerment, and a news conference is pending.
