Călin Georgescu plans Sunday visit to Oradea's Piața 100 amid local market dispute
Former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu announced a Sunday appearance at Oradea's Piața 100 to promote Romanian producers, a move questioned by the market’s director.
Călin Georgescu, who previously ran for president, posted on Facebook that he will be at Oradea’s former Piață Ocska on Sunday morning, starting at 8:30 a.m., to encourage followers to purchase Romanian products. He described the market as a place where historic items and fresh farm produce coexist. Liviu Andrica, director of the Administrația Domeniului Public Oradea, told a local newspaper that the site is known mainly for antiques and used cars, with a limited agricultural area operated by businesses that are not local producers.
He said the market’s rules forbid political, religious or other public demonstrations and that his administration was not consulted about Georgescu’s visit. AUR party members, including some from outside Bihor, are helping publicise the event, which is expected to attract many visitors. Georgescu’s legal troubles, including charges related to extremist propaganda and false information, were also noted.
