Camaro crashes into Hesperia home; passenger laughs as deputies intervene
A Camaro driven by Christopher Harman slammed into a house on Hesperia Road, prompting a tense standoff with deputies during which the passenger, Brittany Thorson, laughed.
At approximately 7:22 p.m. on Aug. 12, a Camaro driven by 38-year-old Christopher Harman crashed through a fence and into a home on the 11700 block of Hesperia Road, igniting a minor fire in a bedroom. Occupants of the house got out safely, while the driver and his 39-year-old passenger, identified as Brittany Thorson, refused orders to leave the vehicle. Deputies, weapons drawn, issued repeated commands over a loudspeaker for about half an hour before moving in and deploying less-lethal rounds.
During the extraction, Harman grabbed a deputy’s gun, prompting officers to subdue him. Thorson was removed and transported to a hospital for her injuries, and Harman was taken to the High Desert Detention Center on several charges.
