Canadian tourist on trial after drunken theft of Las Vegas casino flamingo
Mitchell Fairbarn, a 34‑year‑old visitor from Ontario, is facing trial for taking a Chilean flamingo named Peachy from the Flamingo Hotel and Casino’s bird habitat. He testified that he had consumed 30 to 40 beers and had turned off his phone before entering the enclosure around 5 a.m. Surveillance footage showed him removing the bird, after which he attempted to place it back in a hallway. Veterinarian Dr. Tiffany Moore reported that Peachy suffered missing feathers, broken wing shafts and blood loss, requiring antibiotics and anti‑inflammatories. The case is proceeding with the defendant under house arrest.
