Canadian trio aims for Diamond League titles in Brussels final

Audrey Leduc, Marco Arop and Sarah Mitton will compete for Diamond League trophies and $30,000 prizes at the Brussels final, while Andre De Grasse has withdrawn to focus on the upcoming Ultimate Championship.

At the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, the Diamond League Final will see Canadian sprinter Audrey Leduc, 800-metre specialist Marco Arop and shot-put champion Sarah Mitton vying for event titles and a $30,000 US top prize. Andre De Grasse, who had qualified for the men’s 200 m, was withdrawn on Thursday to prioritize his participation in the forthcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship. The field was assembled from athletes who accumulated points at 14 meetings on four continents between April and August.

Mitton seeks her second Diamond League trophy after a previous win was nullified by a protest. Arop enters the race healthy after limited competition this season, and Leduc qualified with a single points-earning appearance earlier in the year.
