Cannes mayor David Lisnard leads Bruno Retailleau in new presidential poll
An Ifop poll for LCI and Sud Radio gives Cannes mayor David Lisnard 6% support, placing him ahead of Bruno Retailleau in the first-round outlook for the 2027 presidential election.
According to an Ifop poll commissioned by LCI and Sud Radio, David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes, now commands 6% of voter intention for the 2027 presidential election, overtaking Bruno Retailleau of the Republicans. The poll also places Gabriel Attal of Renaissance at 5% and notes that Édouard Philippe of Horizons would have 13% support if he entered the race. Lisnard’s share has risen since late September, altering the dynamics within the right-hand bloc.
Bruno Retailleau reacted positively, calling the development "very good to live" and warned that the substantive campaign period will begin in January-February. Lisnard, who left LR in March, is backed by an active online community; on the banned betting platform Polymarket he is credited with a 13% chance of victory. A recent Ipsos-BVA-Cesi barometer for La Tribune Dimanche shows 16% of respondents would be satisfied if Lisnard became president, still well behind Édouard Philippe (20%), Marine Le Pen (32%) and Jordan Bardella (33%).
Why it matters
The poll signals a shift in the French right, with a local mayor emerging as a serious contender for the 2027 presidency.
