Capcom to revive dormant series after million-copy launch of Onimusha

Capcom highlighted that its latest title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, moved more than a million units on its first day, marking a notable success after recent hits like Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata. The firm said it will now focus on reviving intellectual properties that have not seen new releases in years, aiming to maximize the value of its extensive game library. Confirmed efforts include an Okami sequel and Mega Man: Dual Override, while the company hinted at possible new installments for dormant series such as Dino Crisis, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney.

The last mainline Onimusha game appeared in 2006, and the last new Devil May Cry entry was in 2019. Capcom also recently re-released the first two Dino Crisis titles and plans to add Dino Crisis 2 to PlayStation Plus later this year.
