Capital F seals $17 million debut fund to invest in women-focused markets

All-female venture firm Capital F announced it has closed its first fund with $17 million, targeting companies serving the “female economy.”

Capital F, a venture capital firm led entirely by women, closed its first fund at $17 million, focusing on sectors where women drive demand such as health, e-commerce and AI safety tools. Co-founders Margaret Coblentz and Dawn Dobras, who previously held senior roles at Gap, Credo Beauty, Charlotte Russe and launched a luxury knitwear brand, created the firm after noticing a lack of female representation in venture. Their fundraising strategy included salon-style events that attracted predominantly female limited partners like Jenny Ming of Rothys, former Pottery Barn CEO Marta Benson and investor Linnesa Roberts of Gingerbread Capital.

Capital F requires portfolio founders to meet at least two of its ten LPs before investing, leveraging those relationships for advisory and sales support. To date the fund has backed 13 early-stage companies, including telemedicine provider Hey Jane, hormone-tracking startup Stardust and Steller Sleep, which was acquired by Google, and expects to fully invest by the close of 2027.

Why it matters

The fund aims to channel capital into under-funded women-centric businesses, potentially reshaping markets driven by female consumers.
