Carlos Sainz signs extended deal with Williams, cites transparent team culture

Carlos Sainz confirmed a multi-year contract extension with Williams Racing, highlighting the clear communication and family atmosphere within the team.

Carlos Sainz announced he has agreed to a multi-year extension with Williams Racing, a deal that goes beyond the 2027 season. He explained that candid discussions with team principal James Vowles and the board gave him confidence in the team's direction. Sainz pointed to a family-like environment across the organisation and cited recent investments and projects as signs of progress.

While acknowledging a rough opening to the 2026 campaign under the latest regulations, he believes Williams has the talent and motivation to climb back to the front of the grid. The driver also referenced his teammate Alexander Albon's similar trust in Vowles' vision. Sainz concluded that focusing on process, detail, and instinct will eventually translate into better race results.

Why it matters

The extension keeps a top driver at Williams, influencing the team's competitive prospects in Formula 1.
