He also pushed back against recent unflattering comments from U.S. officials, labeling them as below the dignity of their offices, and declined to guess at Trump’s reasons for continuing the criticism. The prime minister framed the dialogue as part of Canada’s broader responsibility for sovereignty and international stability.
