Cast Recreates Abbey Road for Sam Mendes' Beatles Biopic Filming

Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan were filmed reenacting the Abbey Road cover for Sam Mendes' upcoming Beatles film series.

A video circulating online shows Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan walking across Abbey Road while mimicking the legendary Beatles album cover, confirming progress on Sam Mendes’ multi-part biopic. The series, called “The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” will tell the story of the group through four individual films, each focusing on a different member, and is scheduled for an April 2028 rollout by Sony Pictures.

Mendes, who will direct all installments, noted that this marks the inaugural theatrical project to receive the Beatles’ estates’ approval for life-rights and music. Casting includes Dickinson as John Lennon, Mescal as Paul McCartney, Quinn as George Harrison and Keoghan as Ringo Starr, with additional roles such as Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney and James Norton as Brian Epstein. At CinemaCon 2025, Mendes described the venture as a “first binge-able theatrical experience,” though it remains unclear whether the four films will debut simultaneously or weekly. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman indicated that principal photography will span roughly a year.
