Cava notes rise in adult patrons ordering kids-sized meals amid GLP-1 drug trend
Cava's CEO said more adults on GLP-1 medications are choosing the chain's kids meals, reflecting changing portion preferences.
Cava reported a notable increase in adult diners who are on GLP-1 weight-loss medications and are selecting the chain's kids-meal option, priced at $8.25. CEO Brett Schulman referred to these customers as "big kids" during the company's quarterly earnings discussion. He said the trend reflects a broader appetite for smaller portions among GLP-1 users.
Cava’s regular build-your-own bowls begin at $12.95, indicating a price gap between the two sizes. This pattern aligns with other food manufacturers, such as General Mills and Conagra Brands, introducing smaller-portion items labeled "GLP-1 Friendly." The restaurant also posted a 31.3% revenue rise year-over-year, a 9% increase in same-store sales, and opened 17 new locations in the quarter.
