CBI assumes control of Vijayawada custodial death probe, begins evidence collection

The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the inquiry into the death of 25-year-old Gade Sai Krishna in Vijayawada and started gathering forensic evidence at the Krishnalanka police station.

After the Andhra Pradesh High Court ordered a fresh investigation, the CBI took charge of the custodial death case of Gade Sai Krishna, a 25-year-old from Krishnalanka. The agency filed a new FIR, obtained the SIT’s records, and dispatched a team of eight officials, headed by Additional Superintendent Narendra Dev, to examine the police station’s second floor where the victim was detained. Deputy Inspector General Shiva Subramani is supervising the probe, while forensic specialists from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory are collecting technical evidence.

The CBI has also requested details on the victim’s criminal history from the Crime Control Section and has applied to search the residences of two suspects, Gulivindala Suresh Kumar and Venkataraju, with court approval granted. The high court has mandated compensation of ₹25 lakh to the victim’s mother, Gade Vijayalakshmi, and ordered disciplinary action against implicated police personnel.
