CBP chief claims border enforcement now tracks crossings better than ever

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott said the agency now has unprecedented insight into border crossings, crediting Trump-era policies for sharply lower illegal entries.

At a policy gathering in Washington, DC, CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott declared that the agency now possesses the most detailed situational awareness of border activity in U.S. history. He attributed this improvement to actions taken during the Trump administration, including additional congressional funding and intensified field operations, which he said transformed a previously uncontrolled border. Scott highlighted a dramatic decline in illegal crossings, noting that daily numbers once topped roughly 18,000 but have dropped to under 200 on certain days.

He argued that the decline undermines cartel revenue streams and reduces the influx of higher-risk individuals. The discussion also included DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, focusing on security, public safety, and sovereignty, and was co-hosted by CGCN and the ALFA Institute.
