CBP Seizes Over 280 Pounds of Meth at Laredo Border Crossing
CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo stopped a vehicle from Mexico and uncovered more than 280 pounds of methamphetamine.
In late August, Customs and Border Protection personnel at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, Texas, intercepted a 2011 Honda CR-V attempting to cross from Mexico. An officer used a detection dog, which alerted to a narcotics odor, leading to a secondary inspection. Agents uncovered 280.47 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle.
The haul, valued at millions of dollars on the street, highlights the importance of canine operations, according to Laredo Port Director Albert Flores. The individual responsible has not been identified, and ICE Homeland Security Investigations is handling the case. This seizure adds to a recent pattern of large meth interceptions at Texas ports of entry.
