CEC Bank backs new 600-tonne-per-day oil plant in Cluj County
CEC Bank is providing co-financing for a new oil-processing facility in Mihai Viteazu, Cluj, capable of handling 600 tonnes of seeds daily.
CEC Bank announced it will co-finance the construction of an oil-processing plant in the town of Mihai Viteazu, Cluj County. The facility will process 600 tonnes of seeds each day on an 8.5-hectare site, featuring six silos for raw material, storage for by-products and fuel reservoirs. A 1.65 MW agro-voltaic installation with battery storage is planned to lower operational expenses and reduce the carbon footprint.
The project is driven by the Podişul Transilvaniei agricultural cooperative, representing 21 farmers across Cluj, Alba and Mureş, and is funded through EU resources, cooperative contributions and the bank loan. Bank officials say the investment aims to keep more value added within Romania’s agro-food sector and improve the trade balance. Construction is underway, with the plant expected to start operating by the end of 2027.
