Central Tokyo sets record with 34 consecutive days of rain

Central Tokyo has experienced uninterrupted rain for 34 days, the longest streak on record according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The measurement point is at Kitanomaru Park in Chiyoda Ward, surpassing the previous 33‑day record set in 2019. The heaviest single‑day total during the spell was 156 mm on September 21. By September 27 the city had accumulated 621.5 mm of rain, approaching the all‑time September high of 670.9 mm recorded in 1958. Between September 1 and 27 the area saw only 45.8 hours of daylight.
