CFR launches multi-region railway maintenance tender worth up to RON 4.09 billion
Romanian rail operator CFR announced a tender for maintenance works across seven regions, with framework agreements valued up to RON 4.09 billion over four years.
CFR SA published a procurement notice on the Electronic Public Procurement System for railway maintenance projects in seven Romanian regions, aiming to improve safety and lift speed limits. The tender is divided into seven separate lots, each corresponding to a specific region: Bucharest, Craiova, Timișoara, Cluj, Brașov, Galați and Constanța. The maximum estimated cost for each lot is RON 584.5 million, not including VAT, and each framework agreement will last 48 months.
While the framework contracts will be concluded at CFR SA’s central level, the execution contracts will be awarded by the respective regional branches. The state budget, under the railway directorate’s maintenance and operation line, will finance the works. Overall, the seven agreements could total up to RON 4.09 billion across the four-year term, though no contracts have yet been awarded.
Why it matters
The tender will modernize Romania's rail network, enhancing safety and reducing travel delays.
