CGT calls for group-wide strike at TotalEnergies over jobs and pay

The CGT union has issued a strike appeal for TotalEnergies personnel at all its facilities, encompassing refineries and selected service stations. According to the union coordinator, the action could lead to fuel dispatch stoppages or station closures, based on employee enthusiasm and locally set arrangements. The union points to increasing use of interim and fixed-term contracts, creating staffing pressures and safety concerns, particularly during periods of extreme heat.

It also notes that a significant number of workers depend on activity bonuses from the CAF to compensate for wages that have not kept pace with the rapid rise in living expenses. The call extends to subsidiaries such as Hutchinson, which produces rubber components, and Argedis, which operates roughly 180 highway service stations, both of which have previously staged walkouts over fuel-price assistance. The union contrasts rising shareholder dividends with stagnant salaries, underscoring the perceived inequity.
