CGT urges RATP workers to launch unlimited strike over purchasing power loss

The CGT union has filed a notice of an unlimited strike at the Paris public transport authority, arguing that current cost-of-living pressures cannot be dismissed as temporary. It claims the company's recent offers fail to provide a durable response to the decline in employees' purchasing power. While the RATP intends to bring staff representatives back to the upcoming mandatory annual negotiations, the union denounced this approach as inadequate.

CGT spokesperson Nuno Martins emphasized that workers cannot wait years for relief and called for immediate collective action. The union warned that the strike aims to shift the balance of power and compel the company to revise its policies.
