Chad says Sudanian jets bombed convoy, raises security alert to maximum

Chad has charged Sudan with launching an air strike that hit a military convoy in the eastern Ennedi region, more than 100 km inside Chadian territory, according to a security source. The source said Sudanese Armed Forces aircraft and drones pursued and bombed the convoy, though no Chadian personnel were injured. In reaction, Chad moved around 100 armored vehicles and signal-jamming trucks to the border area near eastern Tine and elevated its alert level to the highest possible, reinforcing positions against drone threats.

Sudan's foreign ministry responded that its forces are fulfilling a constitutional duty to safeguard Sudan's sovereignty and do not target neighboring lands. The claim emerges against the backdrop of a three-year civil war between Sudan's army and the Rapid Support Forces, with UN experts noting Chad's alleged role as a conduit for weapons from the United Arab Emirates to the RSF, a charge both the UAE and Chad deny. The African Union has called for restraint to prevent the Sudanese conflict from spilling over into neighboring states.
