George Boughey revealed that Bow Echo, his unbeaten star miler, has been retired after sustaining a training setback. The horse had completed a flawless six-for-six campaign, winning the 2000 Guineas, the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Sussex Stakes, and was slated for the Prix Jacques le Marois. Boughey posted the announcement on his X account, noting the disappointment but also the honor of training such an exceptional racehorse.
He highlighted the late Sheikh Mohammed Obaid’s role as owner-breeder and lamented that Obaid will not witness the horse’s breeding legacy. Despite the loss on the track, Boughey expressed excitement for Bow Echo’s next phase as a stallion and the prospect of his offspring competing in the future.
