Charity vessel EMERGENCY saves 50 migrants off Libya, seven bodies recovered
The humanitarian ship EMERGENCY rescued 50 people from a wooden boat in international waters near Libya, while seven others were found dead and two survivors remain in critical condition.
EMERGENCY intercepted a wooden vessel carrying migrants in international waters off the Libyan coast and brought 50 survivors aboard. Seven bodies were recovered from the boat. Two of the rescued individuals are in critical condition due to suffocation and require urgent medical evacuation. Survivors reported departing from Zuwara on August 16 and said they hailed from Somalia and Egypt. The group comprised 45 men, five women and 29 unaccompanied minors.
