Chick-fil-A rolls out high-protein chicken-and-waffles breakfast sandwich
Chick-fil-A introduced a new breakfast sandwich that pairs chicken and waffles with added protein options to meet growing demand for protein-rich morning meals.
Chick-fil-A has added a chicken-and-waffles breakfast sandwich to its menu, targeting consumers who want more protein at the start of the day. The offering can be ordered with the classic filet and bacon or customized with an egg or sausage, according to menu director Allison Duncan. Dietitian Tanya Freirich explained that protein at breakfast can help regulate glucose and support muscle health, but cautioned that the sandwich’s fried components increase saturated fat and sodium.
She advised occasional consumption and balancing the rest of the day with vegetables, fruit and whole grains. The launch follows a broader industry trend of expanding high-protein breakfast options.
Why it matters
The new sandwich reflects fast-food chains adapting to consumer demand for protein-rich meals while raising nutrition concerns.
