Chidambaram embraces Modi’s ‘Dimagi Naxal’ label as Gen Z memes explode

Former Union minister and Congress figure P Chidambaram responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent criticisms that labeled opponents as “Dimagi Naxal” and “Naraaz Fufa.” Speaking to ANI, Chidambaram said he is “happy” to be called a Dimagi Naxal and dismissed the “Naraaz Fufa” jab as meaningless, noting that Modi frequently invents slogans in Gujarati and then translates them into English. He recalled Modi’s earlier catch-phrases such as “acche din aane wale hain” and counted roughly 20-25 such slogans over the past twelve years.

Chidambaram highlighted that the Prime Minister’s comments have ignited a meme frenzy among Gen Z on X, where his tweet proclaiming pride in being a Dimagi Naxal garnered 5.5 million likes. He suggested that many of those who liked the post are now identifying as Dimagi Naxals. The exchange follows Modi’s Independence Day address, where he urged authorities to isolate “ideological Naxals,” and his recent speech in Vadodara promoting the freight corridor, during which he revived the “Naraaz Fufa” jab.
