Chief Justice Surya Kant urges new lawyers to champion justice and liberty

Chief Justice Surya Kant addressed NLSIU graduates in Bengaluru, calling on them to uphold constitutional values, defend liberty and listen to unheard voices.

At the National Law School of India University's 34th annual convocation in Bengaluru, Chief Justice Surya Kant delivered a speech to graduating law students. He stressed that legal education should prepare students to engage with diverse perspectives and serve society, not just master criminal or constitutional law. Kant described the legal profession as demanding courage, humility, and a willingness to defend justice for those whose voices are often ignored.

He cautioned against taking shortcuts or sacrificing core values for convenience.
