Child found in cardiac arrest dies in Great Wyrley woodland

A child was discovered in cardiac arrest in woodland near Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, and was pronounced dead by paramedics.

At approximately 8.45 am on Saturday, officers were dispatched to land off Strawberry Lane in Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, after West Midlands Ambulance Service reported a child in cardiac arrest. Police, together with the Midlands Air Ambulance, attended the location. Despite their efforts, paramedics pronounced the child dead a short time later. Staffordshire Police said the death is currently classified as unexplained and officers remain at the scene while enquiries proceed. No further details about the child's identity or the cause of the incident have been released.
