China and the United States urged to keep AI under human control

The statement, issued days after Xi and Donald Trump met in Washington to discuss AI, trade and other issues, urged both nations to keep AI under human oversight and to ensure its benefits reach the public. The piece highlighted the need to act on existing agreements, such as a $30 billion reciprocal tariff-reduction framework and the continuation of trade-talk results from Kuala Lumpur.

It called on government bodies at all levels to implement the consensus reached at the summit. In a related paragraph, the account described AI as a shared challenge and warned against risks linked to what it termed Japan’s “digital militarism,” referencing the Japanese Digital Agency’s Genai platform. The commentary framed AI governance as a joint responsibility to prevent misuse and loss of control.
