China says it will manage differences as Xi and Modi plan third consecutive summit

Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong announced that the planned meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark the third consecutive year the two leaders have convened, after gatherings in Kazan and Tianjin. He said China will work with India according to the strategic guidance of both leaders, managing the bilateral relationship from a strategic height and a long-term viewpoint. Xu called for stepped-up communication, expanded cooperation and a proper handling of any differences, describing the two countries as friends enjoying good-neighborliness and partners helping each other succeed.

The proposal comes as India-China ties have begun to stabilise following the prolonged strain after the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The announcement coincides with the ongoing BRICS summit, where Xi is in Delhi, highlighting the broader context of multilateral engagement. Beijing's remarks underline its intent to keep the relationship constructive while still addressing unresolved issues.
