China secures another million tonnes of U.S. soybeans, nearing half of its 2028 commitment
China's state grain trader Sinograin booked about one million tonnes of U.S. soybeans for shipment, bringing its total purchases close to 50% of the 25-million-tonne target pledged through 2028.
Sinograin arranged the cargoes from Gulf ports between December and February, according to traders. The White House noted that this volume pushes China's cumulative U.S. soybean imports to almost half of the 25 million tonnes it has pledged to buy each year until 2028. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported 340,000 tonnes sold to China this week, plus an additional 100,000 tonnes to other buyers. Sinograin has not responded to requests for comment.
