China surpasses Germany as Poland's top import source in July 2026
Polish import data for July show China overtaking Germany as the country's largest supplier for the first time, driven by surges in cars and electronics.
According to one outlet Bank of Poland, July 2026 marked the first month in which China displaced Germany as Poland's biggest import partner, a change after roughly three and a half decades of German dominance. The rise was fueled by a 54.4% jump in Chinese vehicle imports and a 31.5% increase in computers, electronics and optical equipment, the strongest since 2022. German imports, particularly motor vehicles, fell 9.3% year-on-year.
PKO analysts described the move as partly due to temporary factors, emphasizing that Germany remains the top supplier over the past twelve months, though its lead is narrowing. Cumulative figures for the first seven months show China accounting for 15.9% of Poland's total imports, up from 14.9% a year earlier, while Germany's share slipped to 18.6% from 19.4%. The United States ranked third with a 5.5% share.
