China unveils advanced Type 100 tank with unmanned turret and networked systems

Footage released on September 5 reveals China’s next-generation Type 100 tank maneuvering in an unnamed city, now displayed in a fresh camouflage scheme. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed the vehicle’s entry into the People’s Liberation Army after its debut at the September 2025 Victory Day parade. Featuring a 105mm main gun, the tank’s unmanned turret relocates the three-person crew to the hull, enhancing protection and allowing a more compact turret design.
Integrated systems include a four-faced phased-array radar, active protection interceptors, hybrid-electric propulsion and augmented-reality displays, all linked to a digital combat network. U.S. assessments note the platform’s suitability for long-range deployment, deep-assault and urban operations, with the ability to share sensor data across units and receive targeting cues from drones and satellites. The design reflects China’s shift toward survivability through early threat detection, signature reduction and networked warfare.
