Chinese AI-powered robots replace herbicides with laser weed removal
China has begun commercial use of AI-driven agricultural robots that target weeds with high-power lasers, eliminating the need for chemical herbicides.
The new Chinese field robots employ video cameras and artificial intelligence to identify individual weeds among crops. Once detected, they fire precise laser beams at the weeds' growth points, destroying them without disturbing the soil. After moving from testing to large-scale commercial deployment in Heilongjiang province, the technology is now being exported, with the first H8 unit slated for shipment to Australia.
