Chinese envoy says India and China possess wisdom to manage border differences
China's ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, said both nations have the political and historical insight to handle their border disputes peacefully.
At a celebration of China’s National Day in Delhi, Ambassador Xu Feihong asserted that India and China, as ancient civilizations, have sufficient political and historical wisdom to resolve their border differences without conflict. He reiterated Beijing’s commitment to a "dual-track" approach, pursuing broader bilateral cooperation while handling frontier matters on a separate track, with progress in one area reinforcing the other.
Xu stressed the need for mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and stability in border zones to ensure relations move forward. His comments came two weeks after President Xi Jinping’s first visit to India in seven years for the BRICS summit, where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both leaders emphasized that disputes should not escalate. The Ministry of External Affairs echoed the sentiment, noting that peace along the border remains essential for continued development of ties.
