Chipotle partners with Palantir to launch a food-safety risk analytics platform

Chipotle announced a partnership with data-technology firm Palantir to create a food-safety risk platform hosted on Palantir’s Foundry system. The tool will compile metrics like health-department scores, pest occurrences and worker illness reports to assign a risk rating to each restaurant. Erin Wolford, a Chipotle spokesperson, verified the collaboration without providing additional comment.

The move comes as the FDA has recorded more than 12,800 illnesses from food-borne outbreaks this year, highlighted by a large cyclospora incident tied to iceberg lettuce. While Chipotle was not affected by that specific outbreak, it recently halted jalapeño supplies after a salmonella link sickened over 430 people. Palantir already supports other food-service brands, including Tyson, General Mills and Wendy’s, and derives nearly half of its U.S. revenue from corporate contracts.
