Chlorine gas leak at Budapest chemical plant sends workers to hospital
A ruptured chlorine-gas tank at a chemical plant in Budapest’s 9th district released a small amount of gas, prompting hospitalisation of several people.
Employees at the Illatos út chemical facility in Budapest’s IX district discovered a broken chlorine-gas tank that emitted a limited quantity of the toxic substance. The staff swiftly secured the tank before fire-fighters arrived, and a few individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. Kisdi Márk Máté, spokesperson for the Budapest Disaster Prevention Directorate, confirmed the incident, while the National Ambulance Service has not yet responded to inquiries.
