Chlorine tanker leak at Nagpur water plant sickens multiple residents

During the night between Sunday and Monday, a tanker at a water treatment plant in Nagpur's Godni district leaked chlorine, affecting several families living nearby. Many residents reported difficulty breathing and were taken to Mayo Hospital as well as private medical facilities for care. Mankapur police confirmed that the leak has been contained for now, but the exact count of those affected remains unknown as authorities continue their assessment.

The area around the plant still smelled strongly of chlorine when the site was visited on Monday morning, though the impact seemed limited to the immediate surroundings. Residents and early morning walkers along Godni Road went about their day without visible panic. Social media posts claimed that stray dogs had died in the area, but those reports could not be independently verified.
