From Aug. 14 to 16, Christopher Nolan's blockbuster 'The Odyssey' topped the South Korean box office, pulling in $13.2 million from 1,691,744 admissions on 2,114 screens and securing roughly 59% of the weekend's total market. The movie's earnings increased by almost 28% compared with its opening week, raising its cumulative South Korean revenue to $35.2 million after 4,542,480 tickets sold since its Aug. 5 debut. In the second slot, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' earned $5.6 million from 767,839 admissions, representing about a quarter of the weekend market and lifting its overall total to $53.5 million.
The third-place musical fantasy 'Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone' made $906,294 from 133,928 tickets, while the action-comedy sequel 'Ok! Madam: Bon Voyage' and the anime mystery 'Detective Conan the Movie: Fallen Angel of the Highway' earned $827,800 and $831,509 respectively. The weekend's overall box-office takings reached $22.3 million, close to the previous week's $22.9 million.
