Chrysler issues recall for nearly 75,000 Dodge Durango SUVs over loose rear spoilers
Chrysler has recalled about 74,578 Dodge Durango SUVs from model years 2021-2023 because rear spoilers may become misaligned and detach while driving, posing a road-hazard risk.
Chrysler announced a recall affecting nearly 75,000 Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2021-2023 model years after discovering that rear spoilers may be installed incorrectly, allowing them to strike the roof each time the liftgate opens and close. This repeated impact can degrade the spoiler’s structure, eventually leading to detachment while the vehicle is in motion, creating debris and increasing crash risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received the recall notice on August 13, and the affected vehicles were produced between July 13, 2020, and March 28, 2023, representing about 0.8% of the total.
Although no accidents or injuries have been linked to the defect, Chrysler has logged 116 warranty claims and other service reports related to post-remedy failures. Dealers were alerted on August 20, and owners will receive notification letters starting September 10, with a permanent technical repair currently under development.
