CIDG arrests suspected NPA member linked to 2016 soldier ambush in Surigao
Police captured a 25-year-old suspected New People’s Army member in Mainit, Surigao del Norte, for his alleged role in a 2016 ambush that killed an army soldier.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Surigao del Norte field unit detained the suspect early Thursday in Barangay Siana. He is a resident of Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental and is wanted for the 2016 attack that resulted in a soldier’s death in Agusan del Norte. Lt. Col. Darwin Dura led the operation, which was coordinated with the Mainit Municipal Police Station. Authorities said the arrest advances the ongoing effort to curb NPA activities in the region.
