Cincinnati launches pancake-themed campaign to spotlight its star offensive line
The University of Cincinnati is promoting its top offensive linemen with a pancake-themed marketing blitz ahead of the Boston College game.
Cincinnati’s one outlet department has turned its offensive line into the centerpiece of a preseason advertising campaign, dubbing it the “Football House of Pancakes.” Left guard Evan Tengesdahl, left tackle Joe Cotton and center Taran Tyo, all projected NFL draft picks, appear on local billboards and in broadcast spots before the matchup with Boston College. Coach Scott Satterfield praised the group for ranking among the top lines nationally, noting they surrendered only eight sacks and 43 tackles for loss last year.
The promotion, launched at Big 12 media days, included chef-themed photos, pancake-making kits and a large breakfast that attracted more than a thousand supporters. New starters Xavier Lozowicki and Judea Milon will join the line, while quarterback JC French IV expressed confidence in the veteran front. The campaign aims to give offensive linemen the recognition they rarely receive.
Why it matters
It shows how a college program can use creative marketing to elevate a typically overlooked position and boost fan engagement.
