Cisco to launch sovereign tech infrastructure portfolio in India within months

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins announced that the company will introduce its sovereign critical infrastructure suite in India in the coming months.

At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, Cisco Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins revealed plans to bring the company's sovereign critical infrastructure portfolio to India within the next few months. The suite, designed to address data security and operational control concerns, has previously been launched in multiple European countries and recently in Canada. Robbins emphasized India's unique scale and its potential to expand its influence in worldwide technology supply chains.

He referenced Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's comments on technology sovereignty and stressed the need for collaboration between firms and governments to keep data domestically and maintain system control. Additionally, Robbins pointed to India's capabilities in semiconductor design and manufacturing as a valuable asset for global capacity needs.

Why it matters

The rollout could boost India's tech self-reliance while giving Cisco a foothold in a fast-growing market.
